Help and contact

Answers to the most common questions about buying, importing and your data. Everything is explained in detail in the app itself: in the Help menu › centino Help.

Contact

Write to us at support@centino.app, in English or German. We usually reply within two working days.

So we can help quickly: tell us your centino version (centino › About centino) and, for import questions, the name of your bank and the file format. Please don't send us statements with real data, and never your password.

Buying and the trial

How much does centino cost?

The download is free. You can then try centino for 30 days without limits. If you like it, a one-time purchase (centino Pro) unlocks the app for good. There is no subscription. The App Store shows the current price.

How do I start the trial?

On first launch, with “Try Free for 30 Days”. The trial is free, and nothing is charged automatically afterwards.

What happens after 30 days?

Your data stays. You can still view, search, export and back it up. Importing and editing work again once you buy centino.

I already bought centino, but the app asks again

This happens after reinstalling or on another Mac. Choose Settings › General › Purchase › Restore Purchases. Be signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought with. The purchase works on all your Macs with that Apple Account.

Can my family use centino too?

Yes, centino Pro is shared with your family through Apple's Family Sharing. If the app says the purchase is waiting for approval, the parent needs to allow it in Family Sharing first.

I received a code

Settings › General › Purchase › Redeem Code. You can also redeem the code directly in the App Store under your account.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases go through Apple, so Apple handles refunds: on reportaproblem.apple.com, choose the purchase and request a refund.

Importing statements

Which banks and formats work?

Almost any bank in the EU. centino reads transactions as a CSV file and in the bank formats CAMT (camt.053 and camt.052) and MT940 or MT942, including several statements packed as ZIP. In online banking this is usually called “Export”, “Download transactions” or “CSV”. If your bank offers CAMT, use it: then there's nothing to map.

How do I import?

Click Import in the account, or drag the file onto the account page. centino shows a preview marking each transaction as new, already there, similar or faulty. Only new ones are added.

centino doesn't recognise my bank

For a CSV file from a new bank, choose once above each column what it holds: date, amount, payee, reference. centino remembers the format, and from then on goes straight to the preview. If it still doesn't work, send us the name of the bank and we'll gladly add the format.

Are transactions counted twice?

No. centino recognises transactions that are already there and skips them. Feel free to always download the last few months. An import can also be undone in the account's “…” menu.

The balance doesn't match

If the file contains a balance, centino compares it in the preview. If it differs, older transactions are usually missing or the account's opening balance isn't set correctly.

Why is there no bank login?

On purpose: centino never connects to your bank and needs no credentials. You decide which statements you load.

Your data

I forgot my password

Your file is encrypted with your password. Without it nobody can open the file, not even us, and there is no way to recover it. Keep the password in a password manager and print the emergency kit (Settings › General).

How do I back up my data?

File › Create Backup (⇧⌘B), for example onto a USB stick. Restore with File › Restore Backup. A folder in iCloud or Dropbox is not a backup.

Can I use centino on several Macs?

Yes. Put the file in iCloud Drive, for example, and open it on each Mac with the same password. Try to work on only one Mac at a time. On the new Mac, open the file with File › Open and restore your purchase (see above).

What happens to my data?

It stays encrypted on your Mac or wherever you keep the file. There is no user account and no server of ours. More in the app privacy policy.

Requirements

A Mac with macOS 15 or later. centino is available in English and German.
